Guide
Design readable Instagram carousel text
Treat each slide as one small reading task. A clear headline, a short explanation and generous space make a carousel easier to follow than a slide filled with tiny text. Preview the actual words before designing the whole set.

- What you will have
- A readable Instagram slide plan and a tested opening headline.
- What you need
- A topic, the slide copy and the intended destination.
- How long it takes
- One layout pass and a phone-size review of the complete set.
Before you start
- Choose one useful question the set will answer.
- Draft a short opening and decide what each later slide adds.
Choose a canvas and a text area
| Layout detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Slide dimensions | 1080 × 1350 px |
| Suggested inner text area | 906 × 810 px |
| Top and bottom margins | 10% / 30% |
| Left and right margins | 2% / 14% |
These text margins are LoopBatch's design suggestions. Neither platform publishes a universal carousel text safe zone in the sources used by our carousel guide. A fit message checks the sample layout's geometry; it does not certify every destination interface.
Give the text a clear hierarchy
Make the main sentence the most prominent element and keep supporting copy visibly smaller. Write the title so a reader can understand the point before studying the detail. Use consistent alignment across the set rather than changing it on every slide.
For an export tutorial, the opening might be “Three checks before your next Reel.” Follow with a slide on shape, a slide on file size and a slide on playback. End with the action the reader can take. This is an editorial example, not a claim of measured engagement.
Preview the real headline
Choose Instagram in the free preview and replace the sample headline with your actual words. Long words and line breaks can change the result even when character counts match. The tool tests a sample headline, not every image in a finished carousel.
Review the final exported set at normal phone size. Check the smallest body copy, contrast and slide order. Use the carousel sizes guide for publishing counts, file formats and caption checks; design margins are a separate decision.
The steps
Draft one headline and one supporting point per slide.
Choose Instagram in the preview and enter the opening headline.
Shorten or split text that extends beyond the suggested area.
Design and export the full set, then inspect every slide at phone size.
Check the result
- The opening explains the subject without relying on the caption.
- The smallest words remain readable and important content stays inside your chosen margins.
- The exported set meets the publishing requirements separately from the design preview.
If something goes wrong
- If the preview shows overflow, shorten the headline or move an explanation to another slide.
- If the headline fits but body copy is tiny, review the whole design rather than relying on the headline fit message.
- If the app covers important text, move it inward and inspect the new export on the destination.

Common questions
Are these official platform safe zones?
No. They are LoopBatch's suggested carousel text margins. Review the finished slides inside the destination app.
Does a fit message check my exported slides?
No. It measures the sample headline inside the preview. Inspect all final slide images separately.
