Instagram Reels export settings

Begin with a 1080 × 1920 portrait master, then inspect the exported file and the publishing route you intend to use. LoopBatch's API publishing checks and Instagram's in-app features can have different limits.

Check an Instagram Reel

Before you start

  • Choose the destination account and confirm you intend to publish through LoopBatch.
  • Keep a clean original so export compression can be changed without downloading a compressed social copy.

Make a clean portrait master

A 1080 × 1920 canvas is a practical 9:16 starting point. MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is a broadly useful editing choice; confirm the current publishing requirements linked below before exporting. A file ending in .mp4 does not prove which codec is inside.

Keep faces and captions clear of the app's overlays and inspect the preview on a phone. The exact overlay positions can vary, so a fixed empty border is not a guarantee that every word will stay visible.

This table comes from the same product rules as our checker. The original source dates are retained below; Meta's reference page could not be fetched again on 7 October 2026. These are LoopBatch's publishing checks, not a claim about every upload inside Instagram.

Review after compression

Export from the original timeline, then play the file through once. Inspect captions over textured backgrounds and look for blocks in fast movement. If the file is too large, lower bitrate in a fresh export and compare the result instead of repeatedly recompressing the previous file.

The checker measures dimensions, duration, file size and entered frame rate. It does not inspect the video codec, licensing, account eligibility or the caption's visual position.

The steps

  1. Set a portrait timeline and reposition the subject and text.

  2. Export a clean master using settings suitable for the destination's publishing API.

  3. Select Instagram Reel in the checker and resolve failed measurements.

  4. Watch the entire export and inspect the destination preview before approval.

Check the result

  • Required measurement checks pass and any recommendation is understood.
  • Captions can be read at normal phone size.
  • You checked codec, audio and account requirements separately.

If something goes wrong

  • If the checker passes but publishing fails, read the API error for codec, account or upload issues it cannot measure.
  • If text is covered by the interface, reposition it in the edit and export again.

Common questions

Does passing the checker guarantee a Reel will publish?

No. It checks selected measurements. The codec, audio, permissions, rights and destination account can still affect publishing.
